Governor Abbott has signed over 1,000 bills into law in the state of Texas, including measures requiring public elementary and secondary schools to display the Ten Commandments and criminalizing aid to minors seeking out of state abortions.

Earlier this summer, Governor Greg Abbott signed 1,155 bills into law. Of these, more than 200 took effect immediately, while the rest officially went into effect yesteday September 1, 2025.

One of the most debated measures requires public schools across Texas to display the Ten Commandments in classrooms, sparking wide spread discussion among Americans across the country.
Among the many other controversial laws, the Texas Legislature has also made it official that it is a crime to assist a minor in leaving the state to obtain an abortion without parental consent.
For now, these changes mark a new chapter in Texas law, reshaping communities as we know them but as we look to the future more laws are likely on the way in upcoming legislative sessions.
